Invisalign Vs Braces – Why Invisalign Is The Perfect Choice For Adult Orthodontic Patients

Invisalign braces are perfect for adult wearers looking for a solution that integrates easily into their everyday lives. Whereas traditional metal braces are fine for teenagers or those for whom the aesthetic aspects of braces are not so important, for many adults metal braces are simply not practical.

Clear braces such as Invisalign, however, resolve many of the issues with metal braces. Firstly, as they are manufactured from a transparent medical plastic which is moulded perfectly to the shape of the wearer’s teeth they are virtually undetectable once they are in the patient’s mouth. This means that there is little to no social embarrassment with wearing them, a patient can continue with their everyday life, wearing them to work and for leisure without anybody being any the wiser.

The second great advantage that Invisalign have over other forms of orthodontics is that they are fully removable. This is something that many adults really appreciate. The patient removes the braces for eating, drinking anything other than water, and for any important social occasions. This means that social events such as weddings, a first date or an important work presentation can be done braces free.

One of the most appealing things about Invisalign is that unlike traditional metal braces Invisalign are pain free. Whilst the wearer may experience some minor pressure on their teeth as they are moved, there is no pain or rubbing as experienced with other forms of orthodontics. There are two primary reasons for this. Firstly, there are no sharp edges. Invisalign are formed by moulding the patients teeth and then creating an aligner from this mould. The plastic that is used is smooth, with no rough edges, which means that the tongue and cheeks have no sharp edges to rub against. Secondly, if the patients does experience roughness or chafing from any Invisalign surface it can be gently rubbed with a nail file until the surface becomes smooth. This lack of discomfort is exceptionally appealing to adult patients who are not prepared to put up with using waxes or other methods to prevent pain and discomfort.

When Invisalign were first released they were really only suitable for minor orthodontic issues. This has subsequently changed as the product and techniques have improved so that almost any orthodontic issue that doesn’t include surgery can now be resolved using Invisalign. This flexibility, and the other advantages outlined above, mean that Invisalign are perfectly suited for use by adult patients.

Holding Back the Years

Maintaining a youthful appearance is a goal for many of us – both men and women alike – as the years pass by we look at ways of preventing the onset of inevitable signs of aging. Thanks to an established range of treatments offered by LINE BREAKER, specialist in the provision of non-surgical procedures you can prevent the visible signs of aging.

Founded by respected consultant surgeon, Mr Adrian Richards and Melanie Smith a specialist aesthetic nurse, the company is committed to preventing the visible signs of aging. The straightforward procedures, are in the form of Botox®, Restylane® and Juvederm® injections and a range of skin peel products including Obagi Blue Peel and Glycolic Peel. Also included in the range of non-surgical procedures are Isolagen® and IAL System.

Botox® is highly effective at treating forehead lines, crow’s feet and frown lines. The virtually pain free process involves injecting a tiny amount of Botox® solution just under the skin, in sites on the area to be treated, using a very fine needle (the same type of needle that is used for premature babies). All in all, the treatment takes only 10 minutes, its effects last on average of four to six months and results can be expected in a little as fourteen days.

Botox® treatment has been used successfully for over 20 years and is backed by extensive clinical trials, with over 1400 medical research papers showing it to be safe and effective. The treatment, which is administered by a highly trained medical practitioner, works by the botulinum toxins attaching themselves to nerve endings and blocking the signals that would normally tell your muscles to contract. This releases the muscles and allows the skin to repair deep wrinkles from the bottom up.

Restylane® is a popular non-animal alternative to collagen replacement therapy and consists of a clear gel, which will smooth wrinkles and folds and give contours, as well as providing lip augmentation.

Juvederm® is a hyaluronic acid in the form of viscoelastic gel, which is transparent and homogenous and has emerged as a compound for filling in wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid is a physiological constituent of dermal tissue which maintains local moisture content and is gradually reabsorbed with time.

Obagi Blue Peel® is a procedure designed to significantly improve the appearance and health of your skin, as well as even out any pigmentary problems involving the face and other areas of the body suitable for men and women of any skin type and colour. It is ideal for anyone who wants to look better and reverse the appearance of the ageing process. Those who have blemish-prone skin, wrinkles, pigmentation problems, sun damage, or general poor skin quality will benefit the most.

Glycolic Peel is comprised of an all natural alpha hydroxy acid derived from sugar cane. Alpha Hydroxy acids occur naturally in certain fruits and foods. Of all the alpha hydroxy acids, Glycolic is the smallest in molecular size. This small molecular size allows it to penetrate the skin.

Treatment with Glycolic acid is gentler than chemical peels and is used to improve and smooth the texture of the skin of the face by removing its damaged outer layers.

Rejuvenation treatment unlike any other available today.

IAL System is a long acting bio-revitalisation programme to recreate a youthful appearance by restoring elasticity, firmness and hydration of skin. As we age, the level of naturally occurring hyaluronic acid in our skin decreases considerably, leading to the appearance of ageing skin and the formation of lines and wrinkles. IAL stimulates the production of new collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, all vital components of younger looking skin.

Innies Vs Outies

What is the belly button?

Navel, navel, navel. Everyone’s got one; but what is it? As strange as this may seem, the belly button is actually a scar. That’s right, a scar. When a child is born and the umbilical cord is cut, the resulting scar is known as the navel or belly button. If the scar heals in a concave or inward orientation, the child will have an “innie”. If the resulting scar extends from the body due to excessive extra skin from the scar (like a button or tube) then the child will have an “outie”. In cases of extreme protrusion, an umbilical hernia may be present. In these instances, a weakness in the abdominal wall allows the abdominal tissues to protrude to the surface of the skin.

Although these hernias usually correct themselves by age four, surgery may be required to repair the damaged area if the hernia persists past this time. Now, I know you’re probably saying to yourself, “a little hernia is nothing; guys play pro football with those all the time”. Hang on there tough guy. Granted, a hernia within itself is not life threatening, but if it does not heal on its own and goes untreated, there is a chance that the hernia could become incarcerated. Sounds good right? Wrong!

During incarceration, the contents of the hernia become trapped within the herniated space resulting in reduction of blood flow to the hernial contents.

If left unchecked, this could escalate into more serious, lethal ailments such as gangrene and peritonitis (inflammation of the peritoneum). In addition to this, the hernia will enlarge and become more uncomfortable.

So what’s the big deal?

At the end of the day it’s all aesthetics. Although innies are more common, neither has any “advantage” over the other. It really boils down to how your body heals once the umbilical cord has been removed; whether it is because of an excision or withering away with time. Preferences vary from country to country and person to person across the globe. There are cultures who revere the “outie” look, while others are willing to undergo a surgery called Umbilicoplasty to have an “innie”. So which do you prefer? You really can’t go wrong either way.

In the event that you or a loved one suffer from a herniated navel or if you have concerns about the possibility of one, be sure to contact your physician or health care provider.
